NOVATO — Tony Lee Adger, 58, of San Pablo, and De Shauna Marie Jones, 46, of San Francisco, were arrested for shoplifting. They got arrested at Vintage Oaks Shopping Center in Novato, which lately is experiencing an uptick in retail crime.

Adger and Jones were taken into custody on May 21 shortly after 3 p.m. They were booked at Marin County Jail, but they are no longer in custody.

A Novato police corporal on patrol was flagged down moments after a retail theft occurred at a Target store. In a prepared statement Novato police said. “A witness pointed out one suspect still parked near the store in a Mercedes.”

Contact was made with the driver who fled in the vehicle toward a Taco Bell restaurant on Rowland Boulevard. Another officer responding to the scene saw the vehicle and stopped it in the parking lot at Taco Bell.

Adger the driver was arrested for shoplifting and resisting arrest. Adger is no stranger to law enforcement. He has 15 prior arrests for offenses including conspiracy to commit crime, robbery, and vehicle theft.

Upon further investigation, Novato officers learned that Adger had been inside the store with a woman.

The second suspect Jones had in her possession items stolen from Target. The theft was recorded on store security video.

Jones was booked subsequently for shoplifting and possession of brass knuckles. Turns out Jones also had an outstanding warrant for other retail thefts, and she was booked for those too.
