Two Arrested, One for Alleged Battery on an Officer, Following Multiple Noise Complaints in Hollister
Hollister police recently arrested two individuals after what began as a noise complaint escalated to the alleged assault of an officer.
According to a press release by the Hollister Police Department, officers responded to a residence on the 2000 block of Cobalt Court following multiple noise complaints on the evening of May 25. At the residence, officers instructed the responsible individual to lower the music and relocate illegally parked vehicles blocking sidewalks and the residential cul-de-sac.
Later, officers returned after receiving another complaint. The same individual was outside the residence when officers informed him he would be cited for a noise nuisance violation and detained. The individual allegedly refused to identify himself and attempted to re-enter the property despite repeated warnings that he was being detained.
The individual, identified as Edgardo Alvarado, 33, was arrested on suspicion of delaying and obstructing an officer and taken to the San Benito County jail.
After more noise complaints, officers returned to the residence for a third time. They attempted to contact someone at the front door, but a man inside promptly shut the door. Party attendees were largely uncooperative, police said.
Since the initial warning to move the vehicles was ignored, officers began towing the illegally parked cars. When tow trucks arrived, a large group confronted the officers. A woman claimed ownership of one of the vehicles and asked to retrieve a bag from it. A sergeant on the scene allowed her to do so.
After retrieving her bag, the woman allegedly directed obscenities at the sergeant and threw a bundle of keys, including a key fob, key chains, a small pocketknife, and an AirPod case, striking the sergeant in the throat.
Officers arrested the woman as she tried to walk away. During the arrest, the woman allegedly resisted by spitting at an officer and kicking another in the knee, causing injury.
This second individual, identified as Yuliza Dominguez Alvarado, 23, was medically cleared at the hospital before being booked at the San Benito County jail on suspicion of felony assault on an officer, battery on an officer, and resisting arrest.
