A man has been arrested following an incident where paramedics from the Sacramento Metro Fire District intervened to rescue an infant from a vehicle. The events unfolded at approximately 3:30 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in a parking lot in South Sacramento. A woman and her infant child encountered the child’s father, identified as 33-year-old Terrell Marzetta, who demanded a ride. During the ride, Marzetta brandished a knife, prompting the woman to seek help at a nearby liquor store.
Taking advantage of the situation, Marzetta seized control of the vehicle with the child inside and drove away. Fortunately, paramedics from the Sacramento Metro Fire District witnessed the incident and trailed the vehicle while alerting Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies. Marzetta abandoned the vehicle near a park and fled on foot before deputies arrived. Paramedics swiftly retrieved the child and reunited them with the mother.
The following day, June 2, a sheriff’s deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle near El Paraiso Avenue and Sampson Boulevard. Upon attempting to make contact, the driver, later identified as Marzetta, fled on foot into a residential area. Recognizing Marzetta, deputies, with the assistance of K9 Jack, apprehended him hiding inside a van without further issue.
Marzetta has been incarcerated at the Sacramento County Main Jail, with bail currently denied. He is scheduled for a court appearance on June 4.
