Shasta County Man Arrested for Alleged Possession of CSAM; Firearms Confiscated

“On Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, at approximately 8:00 AM, detectives with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office AB109 compliance team and Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF) assisted Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) with a search warrant service regarding Child Sexual Assault Material (CSAM). The search warrant was served on the 20000 block of Sudan Lane in Redding, CA. The subject of the investigation was identified as Timothy Carl Guinn, aged 52, of Redding, CA.

While HSI agents and Sheriff’s Office detectives were searching the residence, 12 firearms were located. One of the firearms, an AR-15 style rifle, was determined to not be in a California compliant configuration. Due to the features of the rifle, it is considered an assault weapon. High- capacity firearm magazines and ammunition were also discovered inside the residence. An additional search warrant was authored by Sheriff’s Office personnel to seize the firearms and items associated to them.

Guinn was placed under arrest on scene and transported to the Shasta County Jail where he was booked for possession of an assault weapon and possession of high-capacity magazines. Additional charges may be filed with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office for other firearm violations. HSI’s investigation was independent of the Sheriff’s Office case detailed above. The Sheriff’s Office does not have additional information regarding HSI’s case status.”
