Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting on West Bishop Street

Santa Ana police detectives have reportedly arrested an individual in connection with a fatal shooting on West Bishop Street.

Dispatch received a report of a shooting in the 900 area of West Bishop Street early on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 5, police said in a press release.

Officers responded to the area and reportedly found a 13-year-old juvenile male lying on the ground near the sidewalk, having suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Officers discovered a second victim, a 16-year-old juvenile, in a nearby residence, also with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Police also located a third victim, also 13, near the scene who had not been harmed.

Orange County Fire Authority transported both of the injured victims to area hospitals. On June 7, the 13-year-old victim died as a result of their injuries.

The surviving 16-year-old victim is in critical but stable condition, police said.

Also on June 7, homicide detectives identified the primary suspect in the shooting as Raymond Mario Jimenez, 27, of Santa Ana.

Detectives located and arrested Jimenez on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

Jimenez’s arraignment date has been set for July 10, police said. He remains in custody without bail.
