“MAN ARRESTED FOR SEX TRAFFICKING 13 AND 16-YEAR-OLD GIRLS
Last night, Sacramento County Sheriff North Patrol Deputies encountered two juveniles engaging in prostitution on Watt Avenue, ages 13 and 16. Deputies contacted an 18-year-old male probationer hanging out with two underage girls in an area known for prostitution and human trafficking. With a lot of tenacity, the Deputies learned the 18-year-old male claimed to have been “dating” the 16-year-old and was “holding money” for the 13-year-old. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau responded to assist when their investigation and uncovered that at least one of the girls were being trafficked. They learned the 13-year-old had just performed oral sex for money five minutes before their encounter with our Deputies.
18-year-old Caden Detlefsen was taken into custody for multiple human trafficking felony charges. He was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held on $1 million bail. Detlefsen is scheduled to appear in court on June 14.
The 13-year-old in this case was contacted and rescued by our Detectives last year when she was found to have been trafficked by a couple, Jacob Reyes and Itzel Medina. She was only 12 years old at the time. Both Reyes and Medina were arrested and are still in custody. Unfortunately, our minor returned to the cycle of victimization, which is far too common in these cases, especially with young victims.
Detectives believe Detlefsen may have been involved in pimping and trafficking other unreported victims.
