On May 31, 2024, at approximately 12:30 AM, Tehama County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 300 block of Ventura Avenue, Gerber. Upon arrival, deputies found two male victims with gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, one victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other was transported to a local hospital and remains in stable condition.
According to TCSO detectives, the incident unfolded when three male individuals visited a residence on Ventura Avenue the previous evening. At around 12:15 AM, one of the visitors allegedly shot the deceased victim for reasons yet unknown. During the altercation, the homeowner attempted to fend off the armed suspect, leading to a struggle in which a second suspect fired multiple shots, injuring the victim in the leg. Following the exchange of gunfire, the suspects fled the scene.
During the investigation, detectives collaborated with the Red Bluff Police Department after receiving reports of a 21-year-old male with gunshot wounds in the 100 block of Main Street, Red Bluff. They identified the injured male as Osbaldo Rodriguez of Red Bluff, linking him to the ongoing investigation. The precise circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation as authorities work to piece together the sequence of events.
