Juvenile, 16, Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder in Hollister

Police in Hollister have announced the arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a recent shooting.

The shooting occurred on the night of June 6th in the area of Sally Street and Third Street, police said in a press release.

Officers had responded to the area after receiving reports of gunfire and learned that a juvenile victim had been taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

At the scene, officers reportedly found spent shell casings.

Investigators believe that a confrontation had taken place among four or five people. At one point, one of the individuals allegedly fired a handgun, striking the victim in the shoulder, police said.

On Thursday, June 20, detectives served a search warrant in Hollister in connection with the investigation.

During the search, authorities located and arrested the suspect, 16, on suspicion of attempted murder and “several firearm charges.” A firearm was also found in the suspect’s possession, police said.

The investigation remains active.
