SAN RAFAEL — A mother, daughter and son have been arrested for allegedly stealing two vehicles. Turns out the son has prior convictions for vehicle thefts, battery and petty theft.
Letta O. Glover, 53, and Diehima S. Collins, 34, both of San Rafael, were arrested June 19. Both women were caught following a police chase and non-injury collision with another motorist. Mother and daughter were driving a vehicle stolen from Newark.
An automated license plate reader detected the vehicle, near Second and Irwin streets in San Rafael. An officer observed it downtown at approximately 2:30 p.m., but it got away temporarily. Minutes later another camera detected it on Freitas Parkway.
In a prepared statement San Rafael police said. “Officers deployed tire deflation spikes that Collins tried to evade, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. Collins managed to reverse and flee again leading officers onto Highway 101.”
The vehicle exited the freeway after a deflated tire fell off, but they kept going towards downtown. Glover and Collins were apprehended when they stopped at the Hetherton Avenue freeway on-ramp.
On June 20 at 6:20 a.m., another vehicle was reported stolen in San Rafael. The victim phoned SRPD again about an hour later after seeing it.
Police found this vehicle in an office parking lot on Redwood Highway. Responding officers set up a perimeter and rescued Lowery who ran into a creek getting himself stuck in waist-deep mud. Marin County Sheriff’s Office deputies helped SRPD. Lowery, Glover and Collins each face multiple charges including possession of a stolen vehicle.
Incidentally, Lowery has been arrested 22 times since 2017. Glover got arrested twice last year. Collins has prior arrests in 2015 and 2021.
