Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Breaking Into Woman’s Home and Assaulting Her

“On 06-20-24, the Napa Police Dispatch Center received a call from a female stating a male subject had broken into her residence and sexually assault her. While the victim was in the shower, the subject entered into the residence and pulled back the shower curtain. He then grabbed the victim while she was in the shower, however she was able to fight him off and he fled. The subject was described as a Hispanic male adult with a shaved head, wearing a black T-shirt, black colored jeans and had a tattoo under his right eye. He was last seen fleeing the residence on the 2400 block of Shoreline Drive in Napa.

Officers from Napa Police Department, CA Highway Patrol and Deputies from Napa Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the area. A perimeter was quickly established and Napa PD officers utilized a CHP Helicopter, a NPD K-9 unit and NPD drones in an attempt to track and locate the subject. Approximately 23 minutes later, detectives from the Napa Police Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) located a subject matching the description and detained him on the River Trail, just north of River Pointe Napa Valley Hotel. He was identified as Amador Solano Ortiz and he had the victim’s personal items in his possession. The victim positively identified Ortiz as the man who had entered her residence and assaulted her. He was subsequently arrested and transported to Napa Police Department where he confessed to the crimes.

On 06-18-24, Patrol Officers responded to the 600 block of Stonehouse Drive for a report of a subject who had removed a screen from a window and was attempting to enter a residence. He was scared away by the resident and patrol officers were unable to locate him.

Based on the nature of the call, Ortiz was questioned about this incident. He admitted that he tried to break into a couple of residences in that area.

Suspect Ortiz was booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections on the following Felony charges:211 PC – Home Invasion Robbery459 PC – Burglary
* 220(b) PC – Assault with intent to commit a felony
* 236 PC – False Imprisonment
* 289(a)(1)(a) PC – Sexual penetration by a foreign object
* 422 PC – Criminal Threats

At this time there is not a threat to public safety and a weapon was not used in the commission of these crimes. The victim is safe and being treated as needed by medical and advocacy professionals. Those seeking a booking photo of the suspect should contact Napa
