Initially, a deputy had conducted a traffic stop on an SUV on the 29000 block of 24th Street for alleged vehicle code violations and discovered that the driver had been driving without a license, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Authorities searched the vehicle, which reportedly led to the discovery of over 230 pounds of suspected methamphetamine hidden in several containers in the passenger compartment.

Additional units from the Sheriff’s Office, as well as personnel from the Kern County Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and Gang Suppression Section deputies, responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the driver of the vehicle as Adolfo Moreno-Ramirez, 48.

Moreno-Ramirez was arrested and booked at the Kern County Sheriff’s Office for the alleged possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales and transportation of a controlled substance, the Sheriff’s Office said.
