A man was recently arrested in Siskiyou County in connection with a double homicide in Cheyenne, Wyoming, back in 2015.

In a press release, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office announced that they had arrested Douglas Smith, 68, at his property in McCloud, California.

The Cheyenne Police Department had reportedly identified Smith as the primary suspect in the murders of George Manley, 76, and Dwight Beckham, 67.

Cheyenne police officers, initially responding to a report of robbery, found the two dead of gunshot wounds at The Coin Shop on West Lincolnway in downtown Cheyenne on July 20, 2015.

Detectives revisited the evidence in March 0f 2023, and ultimately identified Smith, the individual who had originally called 9-1-1 to report a robbery at The Coin Shop, as the primary suspect in the case.

Authorities drafted a warrant for Smith for two alleged counts of first-degree murder.

On the morning of Tuesday, June 25, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team located Smith and took him into custody.

Siskiyou County authorities reportedly also served a search warrant at Smith’s property to allow Cheyenne police investigators to gather additional evidence.

Smith currently awaits extradition back to Cheyenne, Wyoming.
