A Clovis mother was recently arrested after allegedly leaving her infant child in a hot car last week, police said in a press release.
On Monday afternoon, June 24, at around 4:30 PM, police received a report of an infant locked in a car under the sun in a parking lot at Willow and Nees.
The caller reported that the car was off with the windows slightly down, and that the infant appeared warm in their seat, police said.
As officers responded, the mother and an older child reportedly returned to the vehicle. The caller continued to provide information to the dispatcher.
Authorities reportedly determined the infant had been in the car for at least 20 minutes while the mother and child ate in a nearby business.
Paramedics and officers checked the infant, who, although warm to the touch, was healthy and safe once removed from the vehicle, police said.
The mother was arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment and booked at the Fresno County jail.
Child Protective Services turned the infant and older child over to their father. Child Protective Services will continue to follow up on the case, police said.
