A man accused of threatening his ex-partner was taken into custody after reportedly barricading himself in a bedroom for several hours.

According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, on the morning of June 3, deputies responded to a home in Twaine Harte to check on a resident after receiving a report that her ex-partner had allegedly threatened physical harm against her.

Responding deputies arrived on scene and reportedly located the suspect’s motorcycle in the driveway. They made contact with the woman and safely evacuated her and her children from the home.

The suspect reportedly then barricaded himself inside a bedroom on the second floor and refused to exit peacefully.

Deputies, SWAT personnel, and crisis negotiators spent the next several hours actively communicating with the suspect. During that time, authorities closed down a portion of Joaquin Gully Road and advised nearby Twaine Harte Elementary school to lockdown.

At around 3:30 that afternoon, the suspect reportedly exited the bedroom peacefully and was taken into custody.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is active and ongoing.
