Man Reportedly Arrested for Alleged Armed Carjacking in Redding

An individual has reportedly been arrested in connection with an alleged armed carjacking in Redding last week.

Officers had responded to a report of an armed carjacking at the Quality Inn Motel on Hilltop Drive in Redding on Thursday, July 4, police said in a press release.

At the location, the victim reportedly told officers that an acquaintance of hers had forcibly taken her vehicle at gunpoint.

Officers began a search and, around midnight, located and stopped the vehicle near Twin View Boulevard and I-5, police said.

Police identified the suspect as Raymond Thomas, 35.

Thomas was taken into custody and booked at the Shasta County jail on suspicion of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft, and violation of Post-Release Community Supervision, police said.

No further information was immediately available.
