Police in Santa Rosa reportedly seized an assault weapon after pulling over a motorist wearing a hockey mask in late June.
On Saturday, June 29, at about 9:40 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Team stopped a gold Toyota Camry at Marlow Road and Bay Village Circle, according to a press release by the Santa Rosa Police Department.
The driver was driving without headlights or taillights and was wearing a costume prop hockey mask based on the Jason character from the “Friday the 13th” films, police said.
Officers identified the driver as Adonay Efriem, 27.
Efriem was visibly nervous and sweating when officers made contact, according to police.
During the stop, officers reportedly discovered an AR-15 style rifle partially hidden under a blanket in the back seat.
The weapon, an Eagle Arms Eagle-15 5.56 mm rifle, was unloaded but unregistered, thus illegal to possess.
Officers took Efriem into custody without incident on suspicion of possessing an assault weapon.
