Man Allegedly Leads San Joaquin County Deputies on High-Speed Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle

A man was arrested in late June after allegedly leading San Joaquin County deputies on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

According the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on patrol locatedthe stolen vehicle in the Morada area on Sunday, June 30th. The deputy attempted a traffic stop near Highway 99 West Frontage Road and Ashley Lane, but the driver allegedly did not yield, resulting in a pursuit on southbound Highway 99.

The pursuit allegedly reached speeds of up to 100 mph, and came to an end when the suspect attempted to exit at Cherokee Lane in Stockton, lost control, and crashed into a drainage ditch.

From there, the suspect reportedly fled on foot. The deputy pursued the suspect into the area of Cherokee Lane and Teepee Drive but lost sight of him.

Additional patrol units responded to the area and established a perimeter. The California Highway Patrol also responded and ultimately found the suspect hiding behind a dumpster on Teepee Drive.

Authorities identified the suspect as Arden Benjamin Ochoa Perkin, 23.

Perkin was then taken into custody. During the arrest, deputies allegedly found a loaded Glock 19 with a 15-round magazine in his possession.

Perkin was later booked on multiple charges including felony reckless evading, taking a vehicle without consent, possession of stolen property, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and carrying a concealed firearm, the Sheriff’s Office said.
