LIVERMORE—Officers investigating mail theft arrested three suspects from Stockton 90 minutes later. More than 100 pieces of stolen mail were recovered from a car the suspects were using. They also had methamphetamine in their possession.
A witness phoned Livermore PD on July 9 at 3 a.m. The caller reported seeing mail being stolen from residences on Dana Circle. A description of the getaway vehicle used by the suspects was obtained by the police.
In a prepared statement Livermore police said. “The suspects were linked to a gray Toyota Prius.
Livermore police located the vehicle on Portola Avenue near North Livermore Avenue and conducted a traffic stop.”
Officers searched the vehicle. The suspects had in their possession stolen mail from victims with Livermore and Stockton addresses. Police also found methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
All three suspects from Stockton were booked at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. They face multiple charges for identity theft, possession of a controlled substance and committing mail theft.
Dominick D. Mearis, 38, and Carl H. Williams, 37, remain behind bars at the county lockup. However, the third suspect, 45-year-old Shadraia Butler-Isaac is no longer listed in the roster of inmates.
Mearis is ineligible for release on bond, as he has a previous conviction for pandering, and he was free on parole. Williams had multiple outstanding felony charges related to identity theft and stolen vehicles.Bond for Williams’ release from custody was set at $270,000.
