Corona Man Arrested for Assault and Child Endangerment Following Shooting Incident

On Monday, June 24, 2024, at approximately 1:54 a.m., Lake Mathews Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 1300 block of Magnolia Avenue in Corona to respond to an incident involving a gunshot wound. The victim reported that the incident occurred on Sunday, June 23, around 11:37 p.m. while he was traveling north on Temescal Canyon Road near Dawson Canyon Road. He was struck by gunfire and subsequently transported to a local hospital with injuries determined to be non-life-threatening.

Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station investigators took charge of the scene to conduct further investigations. During the course of their inquiry, they identified Luis Orlando Quiroz, a 45-year-old resident of Corona, as the suspect. It was also established that Quiroz’s child was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting but was not harmed.

On Thursday, July 11, 2024, around 8:30 a.m., Quiroz was located and arrested without incident by the Riverside Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau. A subsequent search warrant executed at his residence led to the discovery of four handguns and various calibers of ammunition. Quiroz was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment, and unlawful possession of a firearm. This case remains under investigation, and no further details are currently available.
