Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Point Arena

UPDATE — Wed. Jul 17, 2024: In an updated press release earlier this week, the Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 54-year-old Kevin Teauffer of Annapolis.

Authorities in Mendocino County have reportedly arrested an individual in connection with a fatal shooting last week.

According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, an individual called 9-1-1 on the evening of Thursday, July 11, to report that he had just shot someone.

The caller, later identified as Pan Jasper Brady, 47, allegedly reported that he had shot the victim with a handgun following an argument between the two.

Deputies and California State Parks officers responded to the area, located on the 38500 block of Eureka Hill Rd. in Point Arena, and discovered that the victim, a 54-year-old male, had already died as a result of his injuries.

Detectives responded to take over the investigation.

Brady was ultimately arrested and booked on suspicion of homicide, along with an enhancement for the use of a firearm in the commission of a homicide, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Brady’s bail was set at $1 million.

The victim’s identity is being kept confidential until next of kin is notified, the Sheriff’s Office said.
