Riverside Police Apprehend Suspect in Kidnap Robbery of Elderly Man
“LOCAL TRANSIENT ARRESTED AFTER ROBBING ELDERLY MAN
RIVERSIDE, CA – On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, just before 3:00 p.m., an elderly man was leaving White Park in downtown Riverside after meeting with friends when a male suspect approached and robbed him. The suspect then forced the victim to walk to a nearby bank to get more money from the victim’s bank account, all while pointing a simulated weapon. The suspect waited outside as the victim went in the bank, who instead asked for help. Prior to our police officers arriving, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Detectives with our Robbery – Homicide Unit began following up on this kidnap robbery, relaying to other police personnel the suspect’s description and possibility he is a transient who frequents the downtown area. On Thursday, July 11th, a Park and Neighborhood Specialist (PANS) with the Riverside Police Department noticed the suspect and quickly informed detectives, one of whom was already downtown searching for him. Thanks to PANS, the detective located and arrested the suspect.
33-year-old Tyreez Daishon Marzette, a local transient, was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for kidnapping to commit robbery, burglary, and elder abuse charges. He is being held on one million dollars’ bail.
