Suspect Arrested in Connection with Assault in San Andreas

A Calaveras County man has reportedly been arrested in connection with an assault in San Andreas.

On June 22 at approximately 3 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a disturbance on Main Street in San Andreas. Deputies reportedly found a victim with a head injury resulting from a physical altercation.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim reported being attacked by two male assailants, one of whom allegedly used pepper spray. Both men allegedly kicked the victim, causing him to lose consciousness multiple times.

In the following days, deputies reportedly identified one suspect as 34-year-old Jeremy Lovell of San Andreas.

At around 8:30 p.m. on July 9, deputies responded to an unrelated disturbance at Lovell’s residence on East Saint Charles Street in San Andreas.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that Lovell had fled but found him hiding in a trailer on the property.

When contacted, Lovell allegedly attempted to reach for a butcher knife but was subdued by deputies.

Lovell was taken into custody and booked at the Calaveras County jail on suspicion of assault with serious bodily injury and resisting or delaying a peace officer.

The Sheriff’s Office did not comment on whether a second suspect had been identified.
