Police Investigating After Hollister Apartment Building Struck by Fireworks; Residents Evacuated

Police in Hollister are searching for individuals responsible for damaging an apartment complex by setting off illegal fireworks.

According to police, officers were dispatched on the night of Thursday, July 4, to the 1000 block of Del Rio Ct. in response to an explosion outside an apartment complex.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly discovered extensive damage to a concrete staircase leading to the second story of the building.

Officers ultimately had to evacuate residents from the building due to the structural damage, police said.

Police determined that the structural damage had been caused by someone setting of illegal fireworks, one of which struck the building.

The impact shattered all windows and even broke door frames, police said.

Ultimately, Code Enforcement Officers reportedly red-tagged the building, deeming it unsafe for occupancy due to the damage.

No injuries were reported, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Police are reportedly offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for setting off the fireworks.
