Calaveras County Man Faces Felony Charges After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident

A Calaveras County man is reportedly facing felony charges following an alleged domestic violence incident in West Point.

In a press release, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies had responded on the afternoon of June 27 to a report of domestic violence at a residence on the 2000 block of Lily Gap Rd. in West Point.

The victim told responding deputies that the suspect, later identified as Jordan Fox Peters, 27, was under the influence of narcotics and had a history of violence while intoxicated.

The victim reportedly told deputies that Peters had prevented them from leaving. Peters allegedly then shoved a small child, grabbed the victim by the throat, and took their mobile phone, preventing them from calling 9-1-1.

The victim and the children eventually escaped the house, the Sheriff’s Office said, but did not specify how many children were in the home.

Deputies were initially not able to locate Peters.

On July 5, authorities reportedly located Peters in Railroad Flat, near Silver Mountain Road, and took him into custody without incident.

Deputies also searched Peters’s vehicle and allegedly confiscated methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

Peters was later booked at the Calaveras County jail on suspicion of felony domestic violence, criminal threats, misdemeanor child abuse, and narcotics charges.

After Peters’s arrest, authorities reportedly searched his home and seized six different calibers of live ammunition, handgun parts, psilocybin mushrooms, and electric plastic caps.

After this discovery, Peters reportedly faces felony charges of possession of a destructive device and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, as well as misdemeanor possession of a narcotic controlled substance.
