Arrest Made in Tokay Avenue Homicide Case

“ARREST MADE IN TOKAY AVENUE HOMICIDE IN SOUTH SACRAMENTO

In the afternoon of March 23, 2024, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Central Patrol Division Deputies responded to a call regarding a deceased male who was lying near a canal on Tokay Avenue in South Sacramento. Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed that the victim, later identified as James Czech, was, in fact, deceased.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the crime scene and began their investigation, interviewed witnesses, and collected evidence. Detectives determined Czech had been murdered, likely from blunt force trauma.

Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 36-year-old Ryan Tatara. On July 12, 2024, Tatara, who was already in custody in Yolo County for unrelated charges, was add-booked for 187(A) – Murder.

Tatara is still in custody at the Yolo County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court in Sacramento on July 18, 2024.”
