Two individuals were recently arrested on various charges after a high-speed vehicle pursuit in Shasta County.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies from the Burney Station initiated a vehicle stop on Highway 299 East in Burney, involving a grey Ford F150, late on the night of Friday, July 12.

The driver allegedly failed to yield, leading to a pursuit westbound on Highway 299 East. During the chase, the driver allegedly showed disregard for public safety, reaching speeds over 100 mph and traveling into the opposite lane.

The California Highway Patrol joined the pursuit, providing air and ground support.

Authorities reportedly deployed multiple pursuit intervention tactics, including spike strips, near Dry Creek Road in Redding. The suspect vehicle pulled off the road and became stuck on large barrier rocks east of Best Lane.

Both the male driver and a female passenger fled on foot northbound onto Best Lane, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A Shasta County K-9 deputy was brought in to assist CHP officers and other deputies in apprehending the suspects. Both individuals reportedly surrendered without incident. No injuries were reported.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as 38-year-old Michael Ray Schulte from Oregon, and the passenger  as 23-year-old Abreanna Stephanie McFadyen from Redding.

Schulte had several felony warrants from Oregon for violent offenses, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities allegedly found small quantities of narcotics, paraphernalia, and open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle.

Schulte was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, felony vehicle pursuit, driving in the opposite lane during a pursuit, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.

McFadyen was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.

Both were booked into the Shasta County jail, the Sheriff’s Office said.
