Sheriff’s Office Conducts Undercover Sting Resulting in 56 Arrests on Watt Avenue

“In a recent operation to combat prostitution and human trafficking within Sacramento County, Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) Detectives, in collaboration with the Sheriff’s North Patrol, South Patrol, East Patrol Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SED), Sheriff’s Work Project, the Sheriff’s Drone Unit, and with assistance from the Rancho Cordova Police Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team and Crime Suppression Unit (CSU), Detectives coordinated and conducted an undercover operation along Watt Avenue, in North Highlands with a two-pronged approach: Deputies worked undercover posed as sex workers and sex buyers.
This operation resulted in 56 total arrests, and also yielded the recovery of an unserialized handgun. These types of undercover operations are crucial in the fight against prostitution and human trafficking, as they help identify and rescue victims, dismantle criminal networks, and bring perpetrators to justice. Sheriff Cooper has remained steadfast in his commitment to fight human trafficking in our region and the Sheriff’s Office will continue to conduct these operations on a regular basis throughout Sacramento County.
