Man Arrested for Alleged Attempting Kidnapping at High School in Redwood City

Redwood City police recently arrested a man for an alleged brazen kidnapping attempt at an area high school.

According to police, staff at Sequoia High School reported a suspicious person entering a classroom and attempting to pull a male student out of the room on the afternoon of July 18. A teacher intervened and the suspect fled.

The suspect reportedly told staff he had a gun and warned them not to touch him as he fled.

Redwood City Police Department  officers responded, and the school was placed on lockdown while officers attempted to locate the suspect.

Officers reportedly located the suspect leaving a building on the west side of campus with what turned out to be an umbrella.

The suspect allegedly resisted attempts to detain him, and officers deployed “less-lethal force options” to take him into custody. The suspect was medically cleared at an area hospital.

Police also say the suspect had allegedly punched a hole in a bathroom wall and stolen a printer cartridge from the school.

The suspect, identified as Trey Duus, 24, was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, burglary, child endangerment, obstructing officers, and trespassing on school grounds.
