Lake County Community Development Department Staff Member Arrested for Alleged Illegal Activity

“The Community Development Department (CDD) notified the Lake County Sheriff’s Office of illegal activity allegedly engaged in by a member of their staff.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies began an investigation and executed a search warrant at Chavez Anguiano’s residence, recovering approximately $19,000 in cash and 35 pounds of processed marijuana.

On July 31, 2024, Antonio Chavez Anguiano, 36, of Clearlake, was arrested. He was booked into the Hill Road Correctional Facility on the following charges: Felony extortion 518(A), Felony soliciting/accepting bribe 68(A), Felony Grand theft 487(A), and Misdemeanor possession of marijuana for sale 11359(B). His listed bail is $10,000, pending a bail source hearing.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office continues to work closely with CDD to ensure all appropriate protocols are met.
