Yuba County authorities recently arrested an individual for allegedly shooting at two people and several deputies in Oregon House.

Just after 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, deputies reportedly responded to Drake Way in Oregon House following a report of shots fired.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, an adult and a juvenile had approached the address to confront the driver of a pickup truck allegedly seen driving recklessly on Manzanita Lane.

As they attempted to obtain the license plate number of the truck, an individual exited the residence and pointed a firearm at them. Despite the victims turning to leave, the individual allegedly fired several shots in their direction, but no one was hit.

Authorities identified the individual as Corby Sargent, 35.

Upon deputies’ arrival, Sargent allegedly continued firing shots, barely missing several deputies.

The Yuba-Sutter Regional SWAT Team responded to the scene and a search warrant was issued for the residence with assistance from the California Highway Patrol, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Problem-Oriented Policing Team, and Yuba County Sheriff’s Department detectives.

Sargent was ultimately taken into custody without further incident and booked at the Yuba County jail on suspicion of assault with a firearm and shooting at an inhabited vehicle.
