Corcoran Police Arrest Man Who Allegedly Broke into Rec Center

Corcoran police have announced the arrest of an individual who allegedly broke into the local rec center in July.

In the early morning hours of July 13, officers responded to a disturbance at the Recreation Association of Corcoran located on Dairy Avenue. There, swim meet organizers reported seeing an individual on the roof of the building.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly discovered that the burglar alarm had been triggered and the roof had been damaged.

On the possibility of someone being in the building, officers requested assistance from Corporal Carrasco and his K-9 partner, Rex.

During a search of the premises, officers reportedly discovered an individual hiding in the women’s bathroom shower stalls.

Police identified the individual as Ruben Zuniga, 35.

Investigators allege that Zuniga had damaged the ceiling and entered the crawl spaces between the men’s and women’s bathrooms.

Zuniga was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism. He was ultimately booked at the Kings County jail on $35,000 bond.
