San Diego Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting at Euclid Avenue Apartment Complex

“On Monday, July 15, 2024, at approximately 8:43 PM, the San Diego Police Communications Center received a report of a shooting inside an apartment complex in the 4400 block of Euclid Avenue. Officers from Mid-City Division responded and located a female inside an apartment suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. She is described as a 38-year-old Black female.

She is now identified as Senait Legesse. San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the scene to investigate. The preliminary information gathered is that a 59-year-old white male was inside his apartment with the female victim. An unknown suspect entered the apartment and presented a firearm, robbing the white male of his wallet.

The victim tried to intervene in the robbery, and she was shot by the suspect. The suspect then fled on foot. The only description available of the suspect is a Black or Hispanic male wearing dark clothing. During the following days of the investigation, Detectives developed probable cause that Robert Madden was the murder suspect.

Madden is described as a 35-year-old Black male. On July 19, 2024, at approximately 8:50 PM, he was arrested at 4900 University Ave. He was booked into County Jail for murder. His scheduled arraignment date is July 24, 2024, at 1:30 PM. This remains an ongoing investigation. There are still potential witnesses that have not been interviewed.
