Man Arrested For Stabbing People After Domestic Abuse Call
“MAN ARRESTED FOR VIOLENT ATTACKS IN SACRAMENTO AFTER FREEWAY STANDOFF
At approximately 10:30 PM on August 14, 2024, Sacramento County Sheriff’s North Patrol Deputies responded to a domestic violence report call, that occurred at a residence in the Arden-Arcade area. The victim reported having been choked out multiple times by her boyfriend, later identified as 34-year-old Robert Zimbelman. The victim had since been transported to the hospital, and Deputies began their investigation and attempted to locate Zimbelman.
Just after midnight (August 15), North Patrol Deputies responded to a gas station on the 3400 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard regarding an adult male who was just stabbed. Deputies arrived moments later, where they discovered the victim suffering from severe injuries after having been stabbed in the stomach and the face. The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive.
Based on their investigation, Deputies and Crime Scene Investigators learned that the suspect rammed his vehicle into the victim’s vehicle, after which he stabbed the victim multiple times. The suspect then fled the scene in a blue car. Deputies on scene were able to determine that Zimbelman was, in fact, also the suspect in the stabbing.
Deputies began searching the area for Zimbelman and alerted neighboring law enforcement agencies of these incidents and his vehicle description. At approximately 4 AM, Officers from the Fairfield Police Department located Zimbelman in his vehicle. Zimbelman led them and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) on a vehicle pursuit before crashing near Jefferson Boulevard and Highway 50 in Yolo County. Zimbelman fled on foot before going on the Jefferson Boulevard overpass, threatening to jump and kill himself. CHP Crisis Negotiators convinced Zimbelman to surrender peacefully when he was taken into custody without further incident.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies transported Zimbelman to a local hospital, where he was medically cleared for incarceration. He was subsequently transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he was booked on multiple felonies and is being held on $150,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 19.”
