Redwood City Man Arrested for Three Alleged Unprovoked Assaults

Redwood City police have reportedly arrested an individual in connection with three alleged unprovoked assaults last week.

In a press release, police identified Miguel Angel Landa, 37, as the primary suspect in three assaults that occurred throughout the day on Wednesday, August 14.

Around 7:40 a.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Broadway to investigate a report of an assault. The victim reported that they had been sitting in their car when they had been approached by an unknown individual, at the time described as a Hispanic male adult in his 20s, and punched several times in the face without warning.

The suspect then walked away. Officers were unable to locate him at that time.

Around twenty minutes later, just after 8 a.m., officers responded to a location on County Center after receiving a report that a second individual had been assaulted for no apparent reason.

Police reportedly obtained surveillance footage from the scenes of the first two assaults confirming that the same suspect was responsible.

That afternoon, just before 5:30 p.m., the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office began investigating an alleged battery incident similar to the first two on the 2500 block of Middlefield Road in an unincorporated area of Redwood City.

San Mateo County deputies located and arrested Landa in connection with the assault. Landa was positively identified as the suspect in the two prior assaults as well.

Deputies transferred Landa into the custody of Redwood City police, who booked him on suspicion of willful injury to an elder, battery, and violation of parole.
