Traffic Stop on I-5 Leads to Seizure of Over 2,500 Pounds of Methamphetamine
“On August 16 at 9:42 p.m. our officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation on Interstate 5 just north of Las Pulgas Road, Oceanside.
During the traffic enforcement stop, and with the assistance of a Carlsbad Police K-9, officers discovered 2,563 pounds of packaged crystal methamphetamine. The seized crystal methamphetamine has an estimated street value of between $1.15 million to $3.08 million. The Carlsbad Police Department Crime Suppression Team frequently conducts traffic stops that have an impact not only on our city but also on San Diego County as a whole.
The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Eduardo Limas, a resident of Tijuana, Mexico, was arrested and booked into the San Diego County Jail, Vista Detention Facility, for charges of 11379(a)H&S, Transportation of a Controlled Substance and 11370.4(b)(4)H&S, Possession of Over 20kg of Methamphetamine. He is currently being held on $500,000 bail.
