Fresno Homicide Detectives Seek Leads in Fatal Stabbing of Jared Rogers

Homicide detectives with the Fresno Police Department are investigating a fatal stabbing at a local park.

According to police, officers had responded just after midnight on Sunday, Aug. 18, to Martin Ray Reilly Park on Chestnut Avenue to investigate a report of an individual who was “bloody and appeared to have a broken arm.”

At the scene, officers reportedly discovered Jared Rogers, 23, lying unresponsive in a parking stall, having suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper torso.

Medical personnel transported Rogers to an area medical center. He was pronounced deceased a short time later, police said.

Homicide detectives have reportedly determined that Rogers had been stabbed near a gazebo in the park.

In a press release, police described the suspect as a Hispanic male adult with a thin build, standing approximately 5’3″ to 5’4″ and wearing a shiny blue shirt, jeans, and glasses.

Detectives are actively seeking witnesses who may have been present, police said.
