Tulare County deputies recently arrested an individual for allegedly transporting a large amount of cannabis in a stolen trailer.

According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies had responded on the evening of Aug. 19 to an area outside Plainview for a report of illegal trash dumping.

During later patrols, deputies reportedly pulled over a driver pulling a stolen dump trailer, which they then discovered had been reported stolen out of the Porterville area.

The driver and passenger were both taken into custody without incident. Deputies searched the trailer and reportedly discovered a “large amount of processed marijuana.”

The driver, whom the Sheriff’s Office identified as Ramon Garcia, was booked on suspicion of the possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana for sale, and a felony warrant for an alleged weapons violation.

The passenger, identified as Jose Chapa, was arrested for the alleged possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana for sale, and a misdemeanor DUI warrant.
