“On August 16, 2024, at approximately 2:54 AM, Colton police officer’s responded to the 500 block of W. Oak Street regarding a report of an individual, found unresponsive on the ground.

Upon arrival, officer’s located the victim, identified as John Vasquez, suffering from life-threatening injuries. Colton police officer’s and Colton Fire Department personnel attempted life-saving measures; however, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Colton Police Department Detective’s responded and assumed the investigation.

During their investigation, detective’s identified Anthony Bedford as the suspect in the murder of John Vasquez.

On August 17, 2024, Colton Police Department Detective’s located and arrested Bedford, without incident, in the 100 block of N. Yale Street in Hemet, California.

Bedford was later booked for homicide at West Valley Detention Center, where he is being held without bail, pending case filing by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office.
