This past weekend, Detectives with the Modesto Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit arrested five individuals in connection with two separate organized retail theft incidents at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The first incident occurred late Saturday morning when two individuals, later identified as 27-year-old Nyeisha Jackson and 50-year-old Robert Glover, both of Stockton, entered Dick’s Sporting Goods and stole over $1,000 in merchandise. Thanks to our partnership with Dick’s Sporting Goods, both suspects were identified and apprehended later that day in Stockton, CA. These two suspects had been on a crime spree throughout Stanislaus County, targeting four different retail stores in three different jurisdictions.
As Detectives were concluding that investigation, they were notified of another theft that had just occurred. This theft involved three individuals who entered the store and stole nearly $1,000 in merchandise. Detectives located these suspects in the area and took them into custody. The suspects were identified as 33-year-old Miguel Ortiz of Delano, 39-year-old Joey Granados of Patterson, and 37-year-old Tamicka Jones, also of Patterson.
All five individuals were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on various charges related to organized retail theft.
In 2023, the Modesto Police Department received a grant from the State of California to combat organized retail theft. In partnership with local retailers such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, along with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, we are committed to the apprehension and prosecution of those who seek to victimize businesses in our community. Overall Crime is down 4% this year compared to 2023!”
