Suspect in Custody for Armed Robbery, Shooting at a Convenience Store

SAN LEANDRO — A suspect with prior arrests and convictions is in custody at Alameda
County Santa Rita Jail ineligible for release on bond. San Leandro Police arrested Anthony L.
Craft, 30 of Oakland, for an armed robbery and shooting at a convenience store.
A clerk was shot August 21 at the 7-Eleven store at 525 Williams Street in San Leandro.
Responding officers arrived at the scene at approximately 5:15 a.m. The victim suffering from
a gunshot wound in the abdomen was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Store surveillance video shows a man entering the store and accosting the clerk at gunpoint.
The suspect shot the victim once before fleeing from the store with stolen cash.
Detectives following up investigatory leads identified Craft as the suspect. Craft was found
and arrested on the 1400 block of 105 th Avenue in Oakland. He was apprehended on August
22 at 12:10 p.m. Multiple charges filed against Craft include attempted murder, second-
degree robbery, and firearms-related charges. His other charges include possession of a
stolen vehicle.
Craft has a violent history. Craft has prior convictions for second-degree robbery in 2023 and
petty theft in 2013 and 2012. At the time of his latest arrest Craft was on supervised
probation. He also had an outstanding warrant for another robbery.
Craft has been arrested 10 times since 2015. His prior arrests involved such offenses as
burglary, robbery, and possession of a machine gun. He also has prior arrests for possession
of controlled substances for sale, forgery, and other firearms-related offenses.
