San Mateo County Man Allegedly Caught with Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Quantity of Cannabis

A San Mateo County man faces several charges after allegedly resisting arrest and being found in possession of an unregistered gun and an unlawful quantity of cannabis.

California Highway Patrol officers in the Redwood City area conducted a traffic stop just before 2 a.m. on Aug. 21 after reportedly observing a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on US-101 in Burlingame, the CHP said in a press release.

The driver allegedly refused to comply with instructions to exit the vehicle and was arrested on suspicion of resisting, obstructing, or delaying a peace officer.

During a search of the vehicle, officers reportedly discovered a backpack containing a large amount of marijuana, plastic bags, and scales.

Officers also allegedly found an unregistered, loaded Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazine was found in the center console.

The driver now faces multiple criminal charges, including felony possession of a firearm and possession of cannabis with intent to sell or distribute, authorities said.
