A Santa Clara County man has reportedly been arrested for the alleged manufacture of explosives.
In a press release, the Santa Clara County District Sheriff’s Office reported that Christopher Roberts, 37, was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged manufacturing of illegal explosive devices and firearms.
On Sept. 4, the Sheriff’s Office carried out a search warrant at a residence associated with Roberts, with assistance from the Campbell Police Department.
Authorities ultimately confiscated an assault rifle, ammunition, fuses, cylinder tubes, and large amounts of black powder.
Roberts is reportedly also a “restrained party” in a domestic violence case and is prohibited from possessing firearms, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Roberts was arrested and booked on suspicion of the possession of a firearm in violation of a court order, possession of an assault rifle, possession of a destructive device near private habitation, and possession of substance or material to make a destructive device.
