Police in Santa Rosa have reportedly arrested a man wanted on a felony warrant, as well as in connection to an investigation into alleged threats reported by Santa Rosa City Schools.
On the afternoon of Sept. 5, the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Gang Crimes Team reportedly located the suspect, identified as Javier Lesama Montano, in the area of Stony Point Road and Glenbrook Avenue, police said in a press release.
Undercover detectives followed Montano as he boarded a city bus and later exited with two juvenile females near Meadow View Elementary School. The three then proceeded to a nearby apartment complex.
Detectives reportedly intercepted Montano as he walked into the complex. He allegedly tried to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended, police said.
Authorities searched a small satchel that Montano had been carrying and reportedly discovered a loaded 9mm handgun. Montano is also believed to be an active gang member, police said.
Montano was ultimately booked at the Sonoma County jail on the outstanding warrant, as well as charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a loaded gun in public, resisting arrest, probation violation, and a gang enhancement.
