Fairfield police arrested a man for attempted murder in connection with an alleged stabbing aboard an Amtrak train.
On the night of Sept. 8, Fairfield Police dispatch received a call from the conductor of an Amtrak train reporting that a man had stabbed someone and may have been holding another hostage.
The train, which had just entered Fairfield, was scheduled to stop at the Fairfield-Vacaville Amtrak station, where law enforcement was requested.
Once the train was stopped, officers who had responded to the station evacuated the passengers.
While searching the train, officers reportedly discovered a 21-year-old male victim with two stab wounds to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
Officers reportedly then encountered a second man holding a knife, later determined to be a 24-year-old victim who had disarmed the suspect.
Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Brandon Torres-Mendoza of Sacramento.
Torres-Mendoza was arrested and booked into Solano County jail on suspicion of attempted murder, false imprisonment, and violation of post-release community supervision.
