A Kern County man was arrested in connection with multiple alleged equipment thefts throughout the county.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Rural Crime investigators responded to the area of Enos Lane and Stockdale Highway on Aug. 28 to investigate a report of a stolen tractor. Investigators obtained video evidence of the theft, and identified the person of interest as Christopher Zuber, 43, of Helendale.
Investigators soon developed cause to suspect Zuber in connection with several other equipment thefts in the county, the Sheriff’s Office said.
On Sept. 10, detectives responded to an area near 62nd Street West and Sweetser Road on Rosamont, where they located and arrested Zuber.
Investigators also obtained a search warrant for a nearby property, where they reportedly located the stolen tractor. Investigators reportedly also located two stolen John Deere tractors, a 42-foot travel trailer, an industrial forklift, five more trailers, a semi-truck, a Chevrolet truck, Yamaha quad, and light tower, all reportedly stolen.
One of the John Deere tractors and the 42-foot trailer were stolen out of Arizona, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators reportedly also confiscated several firearms and “a large quantity” of narcotics.
Zuber was booked at the Kern County jail on suspicion of grand theft auto, conspiracy, transportation or sales of narcotics, possession or purchase for sale of narcotics, transporting substances, possession of a controlled substance while armed, owning and operating a chop shop, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance.
