Two individuals were arrested on weapons charges in Glenn County after a suspicious-person report led to the discovery of illegal weapons.
According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a report of a suspicious individual possibly under the influence of a controlled substance at Tractor Supply on North Humboldt Avenue in Willows on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The report, received shortly after 11 a.m., was made by a store employee who suspected the individual might attempt to shoplift, the Sheriff’s Office said.
A deputy was dispatched to the scene, where a silver Honda sedan was located in the store’s parking lot. Inside the vehicle, the deputy made contact with Curtis Reed of Solano County. The individual reported as suspicious, later identified as Jeffery McKinney, also of Solano County, was found exiting the store.
The deputy reportedly discovered that the Honda had false license plates. A search of the vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia, a short-barreled shotgun, an un-serialized AR-15 rifle, a non-compliant California AR-15 rifle, multiple 30-round rifle magazines, and ammunition.
Reed and McKinney were arrested and booked into the Glenn County Jail on various firearm and drug-related charges.
