Authorities Reportedly Seize Over $2M Worth of Methamphetamine in Fresno County

Authorities in Fresno County have reportedly seized approximately 235 pounds of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Interstate 5.
According to a press release by the California Highway Patrol, The traffic stop occurred late on the afternoon of Sept. 6 when a sergeant stopped a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica for a traffic violation on northbound I-5 at Russell Avenue. The driver reportedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby orchard.
A canine officer from CHP’s Central Division arrived on the scene within minutes to assist. Despite an extensive search involving additional CHP units and the Fresno Sheriff’s Department Air Operations, the suspect was not located.
The sergeant found approximately 107 packages of suspected narcotics during a search of the vehicle. Preliminary tests confirmed the presence of methamphetamine, weighing approximately 235 pounds. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $2,140,000, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The suspect faces charges of possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of methamphetamine across noncontiguous counties, and resisting arrest, authorities said.
