Sacramento, CA –It has been three years since Wayne Blanchard, 49, was shot to death in an apartment on Oakhollow Drive in North Highlands.
On June 21, 2021, Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a shooting at the apartment building. Upon their arrival, deputies located a female victim who had been shot in the head, but fortunately survived. Deputies also located the female victim’s boyfriend, later identified as Blanchard, who had been shot to death. A witness reported two adult males driving away in a light-colored sedan, officials said in a press release.
Homicide detectives began a long and arduous investigation and learned that 34-year-old Sunnerica Sinohui, her 31-year-old brother David Sinohui, and her boyfriend Dominique Brown planned and carried out the murder of Blanchard and attempted murder of his girlfriend.
Brown has since died in an unrelated incident in Washington, but Sunnerica Sinohui was still in the Sacramento area and her brother David was living in Riverside County. With the assistance of the Riverside Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau, David Sinohui was taken into custody on September 20, 2024, in the city of Victorville. Homicide Detectives booked David Sinohui at the Riverside County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Sacramento County.
Detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Sheriff’s Gang Suppression Unit, arrested Sunnerica Sinohui in Sacramento later that same day. She was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where she remains ineligible for bail.
