Eureka Man Arrested for Alleged Crimes Against Minors

Authorities in Humboldt County have reportedly arrested a Eureka man for alleged crimes against minors.

In a press release, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office identified Darin Michael Ward, 53, as the man arrested.

Deputies carried out search and arrest warrants on the 2900 block of Essex Street on the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 19, as part of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators reportedly seized “evidence of criminal activity” during the search, but the Sheriff’s Office did not elaborate on what kind of evidence it was.

Ward was arrested and booked on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor; contacting a minor with intent to commit a specific offense; promoting, using, persuading, or inducing underage-obscene matter, and human trafficking.

Ward’s bail was set at $1,035,000.

The investigation is active and ongoing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
