Fairfield Police Arrest Two for Alleged Mail Theft and Identity Theft

Fairfield police arrested two individuals over the weekend for alleged mail theft and identity theft.

According to a press release by the Fairfield Police Department, a citizen reported seeing the suspects rummaging through mailboxes near Pear Tree Lane and Union Avenue on the morning of Sept. 22. Officers responded and detained the individuals on the scene.

Police identified the suspects as Jarmol Okpalaugo, 39, and Andrea Gardiner, 30.

Okpalaugo was reportedly found to have outstanding warrants from Solano and Napa counties. Upon searching a backpack they had with them, officers discovered a significant quantity of stolen mail, credit cards, checks, and identification documents.

Both individuals were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, mail theft, identity theft, and drug-related offenses. Okpalaugo was also booked for the outstanding warrants.

Officers reportedly spent over five hours sorting through the recovered items and contacting potential victims. To date, 48 victims have been identified and notified.
